Ford commercial.
When I first saw this commercial it immediately caught my attention; even though I did not know what it is advertising, did not know the brand advertised. However it had attracted me and I wanted to watch it until the end. Why? What is special about this commercial? After analysing it I understood what arose my attention.
First thing was music. Actually, it was not music but sounds: the police car siren, also you can hear the acceleration of the car. So you can imagine the speed. You can hear the brakes when car is turning. For me this sounds always associate with risk and danger.
The next thought was: ’Ohh this guy must be cool, he is speeding in the city area, and trying to escape from cops…’. I became more and more interested in the ending. What was my surprise to see that the driver of the car was a policeman, instead of a cool guy?
Now what is your prototype of an American policeman? In my opinion they are honest, noble and everybody had to follow them, and you cannot say anything against them. So ,now, what made an ‘honest’ policemen to break the rules and to ’steal’ the car?
From their excitement you can see how they enjoying their ’hard work day’. Emotions can tell everything. Like children change their places in this game pursuing each other. In this case nonverbal cues communicate emotions.
Poor guy, we can see how he is disappointed. His voice and mimics shows that he is very much surprised by policemen childish behaviour.
I think that the main idea of this commercial was to show that this car is worth of breaking the rules. It has everything what we perceive a good car: design, speed. Even policemen cannot resist it.
And what do you think about this commercial? Had it interested you? What do you feel after watching it?
Do you want to get this car?
In my opinion in this commercial a lot of nonverbal cues, and the examples are very clear:
1. Paralinguistics – the way how policmen talk with each other, the pitch and the rate of speech
2. Objectics -the empty streets of the city
3. Oculesic - very sad eyes of a poor guy
Enjoy the commercial

Stated simply, perception is a process by which we make sense of the world around us.
Healthy beautiful women VS Skinny models
How each individual perceive beauty is a cognitive process, and it is influenced both by social and psychological factors. We have to admit the fact that we perceive our surroundings, experience and communication differently. It is the main reason why, when we see a girl somebody might say that she is beautiful, somebody might deny that there is something special about her.
But it is not the issue that I would like to discuss. I want to talk about prototype of a beautiful girl. Why in the last centuries the ideal woman had a plump figure, looked very healthy, and only recently there is a crazy fashion for a skinny, anorexic girls?
Prototypes had changed severely; in fact, prototype is out cognitive schemata and it is occur while we are organising information. So what is a main reason for a such drastic changes?
If to look back, couple centuries earlier all artists prayed the beauty of a pogdy women. Lets remember the famous Rembrandt paintings… The perception of a beautiful women was a healthy and strong to give birth for her children.
What happened nowadays is - fashion took the main place in our world. It is no longer means that if you are a bit fatty you are beautiful. The main standard is 90-60-90 ,so, excuse me, if you are not like this you are not beautiful and not fashionable.
And it is true. Look around you, all the brands are advertised by a tall, skinny models, who hardly can me called healthy. So in order to follow the fashion, millions of women all over the world starve themselves, they just want to be “beautiful”.
It is a main problem ;our behaviour is based on our perception rather than on reality and it is deceptive.
Twenty first century is crazy; women can do everything in only to loss weight. Rich men always look for a models to accompany them. That is why anorexia nervosa and bulimia became the main problems nowadays.
It is all we people who changed the prototype of a beauty and the consequences are disastrous. We need to do something with it.

Communication is among us =)
Wow, today’s lecture was interesting. Kam Lin told us about all different models of communication. Firstly, I was confused, because this topic was something new for me; however, when you start to absorb the information and start to think about it deeper it seems easier to understand.
Have you ever thought about models of communication? At least how the communication is differ from traditional face-to-face, and modern com like TV-programs, blogs or forums in the Internet, and the most popular among teenagers the text messages (SMS) ?
So lets apply the new gained knowledge. The main concept is that there is 3main models of communication: linear, interactive, transactional models. By the way, if you are reading this post and can not understand what I am talking about, you’ll better study hard, because all this is going to be covered in our QUIZ 1.
This communication blog is a perfect example of interactive model. You may ask me, how I can be so sure? But I have very strong points to support my opinion.
Firstly, interactive model depicts communication as a two-way process of message exchange between active sendes and receivers. This is a boring theory… Now I will explain it in the way I personally understand it.
Now I am trying to express myself , therefore I am putting the meanings into my entry. It is known as encoding the message, the main purpose of it, so that the reader can decode it (extract the meaning). The important thing to keep in mind is that there is a lot of different factors that affect the way I am encoding a message. It is often a mix of conscious and unconscious processes. Our individual personality and experiences will affect how and what we choose to say. Also cultural and social norms, the target our message isdirected to also all this influence the form of a message.
You – my reader, decoding my message.
The main idea of interactive model “ Something one does with another”; however, this model is not perfect. If meaning and message is not the same, it is resulting in miscommunication.
P.S. study hard for your Quiz 1
Cheers
Welcome!
I always find it difficult to start writing a new page. For a long time you have to think what to write, so that readers would not find you boring or uninteresting. You try to look for how other people start their blogs and search different unusual information. Honestly, I have never tried to create my own blog, or to write on-line journals, that is why please do not be too strict
